Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for students in community colleges. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
Its mission is two-fold:
- Recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students
- Provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership service and fellowship programming.
Cuyahoga Community College has three chapters of Phi Theta Kappa, one on each campus. Alpha Epsilon Eta (East), Alpha Zeta Delta (Metro), and Chi Omega (West). Students are invited to apply for admission to the society based on their completion of at least 12 credits at the 1000-2000 level with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.
